A Schaefer begins as a line on a drawing board in Brazil and ends as a Saturday on the water in Australia. Between the two are more than thirty years of boatbuilding, cutting edge design and technology, and a local team whose only job is to make owning one effortless.

    Every new Schaefer design is overseen by Marcio Schaefer (Senior or Junior) in Florianópolis on the coast of southern Brazil, where boats are built for long, warm days and for time together. Low, clean lines; wide, open decks; light that reaches every corner.

  2. German engineering

    The Schaefer family name is German, and so is the way the yard works: precision moulds milled in-house, vacuum-infused hulls that are strong and light, and the leading global brands for engines and every electrical system.

CHAPTER ONE · THE SHIPYARD

The Schaefer story

Schaefer Yachts has been building boats for more than thirty years and has delivered more than four thousand of them, which makes it the largest boat builder in South America.

Its yachts leave Brazil for owners around the world, and in particular for the United States and Europe, where a Schaefer is chosen against the best-known names in the business. What sets them apart is a rare combination: a designer’s eye for proportion and light, and a shipyard that controls the whole process from the first drawing to the finished mould.

Every boat begins as a detailed 3D CAD model from the technical design team, overseen by Marcio Schaefer Senior or his son Marcio Junior. The family name is on every boat, and with it a dedication to quality and detail that runs from the first drawing to the last fitting. The founder still jumps off the first built boat of every new model during sea trials, to make sure for himself that an owner can deploy the swim ladder from the water.

The result is a boat that looks unmistakably Schaefer from any angle, has sporty handling underway, and feels far bigger than its length suggests while you spend time at anchor with friends and family.

HOW A SCHAEFER IS BUILT

Design, technology and safety.

In a nutshell: design, technology and safety. For more than 30 years Schaefer has invested persistently in research, engineering and new technologies to deliver sophisticated, safe and high-performance boats. Two of the many differences are in how a Schaefer is built.

01 · THE MOULDS

Five axes, one block, no compromise.

Unusual in the nautical market, Schaefer Yachts owns its own 5-axis CNC machine, the largest in South America, capable of milling moulds of up to 80 feet from a single block. The result is the highest quality, precision and finish on all fibreglass and carbon-fibre parts, a construction process that puts Schaefer at the forefront of leisure boat production globally.

Because the machine sits inside the yard’s own product development centre, the same team carries a design from the screen to the finished mould. Nothing is sent out, and nothing is lost in translation.

02 · THE HULL

Strong and light, by design.

All structural fibreglass parts of every vessel are produced by vacuum infusion. Part of the shipyard’s production line since 2006, the process is executed with the highest precision and consistency. It results in a sturdier, lighter, quieter, more economical and ultra-resistant boat, providing more safety and comfort on every voyage.

03 · THE FINISH

Made under one roof.

Schaefer’s joinery and upholstery are made in the yard’s own workshops, so the timber, leather and stitching you see on board were chosen and finished by the people who built the boat. Vertical integration is also why a Schaefer is delivered on time, to the standard it was drawn.

What Schaefer does not make itself, it buys from the best. Engines, drives and every electrical component come from the leading global brands, the same names you would expect on any high-end vessel, with service networks that reach Australian waters.

Schaefer Yachts Australia was founded in 2022 and is today the largest independent Schaefer dealer in the world.

We are based at Rose Bay Marina on Sydney Harbour, and we work in close alliance with Flagship International Yacht Brokers for sales and after-sales support across Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. That gives our owners the reach of a regional network with the attention of a small, dedicated team.

From your first conversation to the day you take delivery, and every season after that, you deal with people who know Schaefer boats inside out and who answer the phone.
